David

David formed Mārama in 2022 and designed the firm’s business model; seeking to create a firm which offers high quality consultancy and produces profits which can be devoted to social good. He is skilled in long term financial modelling and strategic planning, business development and report writing. 

David is married to Elaine and has three young children: Max, Merida and Sonny. He is a partner at Brett Nicholls Associates; a small, growing accounting practice in the west end of Glasgow. 

Volunteering is an important part of David’s life, and he has served on various voluntary boards over recent years. In addition to this work he is a member of the Practice Panel for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and a member of their Scotland Committee. 

 

Brett

Brett is a New Zealander living in his adopted ‘second home’ Glasgow for the past 35 years. He is married to Janet and has three children: David, Kirsty and Jonny. As a Chartered Accountant, Brett has worked in many different fields in NZ and the UK. This has included auditing, corporate recovery and receiverships, working in industry as an accountant, tutoring in accounting and economic and social regeneration. In his early 50s, he set up his own consulting and accounting practice, Brett Nicholls Associates, a firm with a core third sector specialism. Brett has always valued making connections with people and loves hearing their stories.

Brett serves on the boards of the Preshal Trust and Bay of Hope, a new Scottish charity set up to provide humanitarian support for vulnerable children and their families in rural Uganda. Brett sits on the Finance and Audit Committee for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow.
